Why Choose a Realtor?

There are many important decisions you must make when selling your home, from choosing who will represent you, preparing your home for sale, and negotiating the offer.  In this section we will look at how to choose a Realtor.

One of the most important decisions you will make when selling your home is selecting a Realtor that will represent you.  A true real estate professional will focus on you, the customer, always keeping your interests in mind.  They will guide you through the sale process, educating you on various forms, processes and options.  A true real estate professsional will be with you from the beginning of the process to the end.  If they have done their job right, they will be there again the next time you think about selling.

Consider the following when selecting your realtor:

  • Trust
  • Experience
  • Reputation
  • Market Knowledge
  • Available Resources

Ask these questions when interviewing agents to determine if they are the right fit for you:

  • Are you a full-time real estate agent?  Be aware that many agents only work part-time.
  • How many years have you been in the business?
  • What is your track record?
  • What type of marketing plan do you have in mind?  They should hand you one in writing.  If they do not have one, chances are they will not do a good job of selling your property.
  • Can you provide me with a list of referrals?

Keep looking for a realtor until you find someone who is solid, someone you trust, and someone that listens to you and understands your wants, needs, and dreams.  An agent who delivers on promises made and goes the extra mile to meet and exceed your expectations.  Someone that does the “little” things right, like returning phone calls and e-mails in a timely manner, staying in constant contact, following through on things discussed, and avoiding surprises.  These are the things you can expect from Lu.  Just ask her clients.
